Well, I was playing two tables at once, I rarely play less than four tables, so I thought wth 2 tables should be fine, and they were, basically, although the added action only poured fuel into the "gamble fever"-fire...

Looking back now it's really stupid how you can get carried away so easily by the constant action - at the rate the hands are dealt, a simple "play the nuts or hands with potential in position"-strategy should be easier to implement when you're dealt roughly 250-300hands per hour rather than 60...even if you play a "patient game" you should have action hands every 10-15 minutes tops...but as you've read, that wasn't the way things went down.

Even after realizing that now, I'll abstain from jumping back in...probably a good idea to "take a walk" and "cool off" for a while...so you won't see me at the Rush tables soon...but maybe sometime in the near future I'll come back...we'll see...until then enjoy the rants about my play on Stars and gl at the tables...

Well, the games have changed drastically since it's inception. I went from crazy LAG to pretty damn tight TAG, and it seems to have taken out a lot of the variance that was plaguing me. Plus I dropped from 100NL to 50NL, where the game is MUCH easier. Your 3 points are exactly what you need to be doing (add to that, look for "spots" to grab extra $$... checked turn after big raise on flop, etc... ). The problem as you've said, is sticking with it. I still find when I stray (call oop etc) I lose $$. Luckily I force myself to pay attention and don't lose as much as I would have previously. Even though I WANT to fight for every pot I enter... the reality is I don't HAVE to.
I'm not sure how many tables you were playing, but take it down to 1, and treat it like it's a regular speed table... take time on your decisions, pay attention to the stack sizes of your neighbors and your position etc... it works.
Good luck!

Hi Blaarghster, not taking your comments as "rubbing it in", I'm always interested in other players opinions, especially when I obviously suck at something...and rush obviously fit's that description.

I went into the first few session without a game plan, just jumping in, seeing how things went. Obviously things didn't go so well (FAIL #1), so I sat my ass down and tried to make a simple game plan.

The key points of that "plan" were:
1.) use position
2.) don't overcommit, especially in marginal situations
3.) value-bet the hell out of your opponents

After the last few sessions the honest assessment is:
1.) check
2.) FAIL #2
3.) check

2 out of 3, but the second was the most crucial part of the plan and it was a major fail. I overdefended, overcommited and payed off much too often...P.O.W. - pay off wizard.

Looking back at some of the hands, it's really bad judgement all the way. Yes, ppl will try to use position as per 1) of my plan, but will they really call a 3bet or 4bet regularly with crap? Not all that likely, when the next x hands are seconds away. So I found myself in marginal situations far too often and it cost me dearly.

If I could go back and change the above I would, but:

1.) I'm not sure I can stick to it in this "crack"-game...I'm used to playing 4-8 tables (SnG though, not cash) and even if things run smoothly that's like 160-300 hands per hour maximum. Now I've been playing up to 700 hands per hour and the fast pace magically puts me in this "let's gamble mood"...discipline fail...

2.) Honestly I'm used to "feeling unlucky" at FTP and if I like to admit it or not, it's getting to me (subconsciously)...so I play sub-optimally in spots where I wouldn't (e.g. in SnGs on Stars)...attitude fail...

3.) I'm not in the mood of plowing more money into poker atm...this costs me, too...playing on the ever short bankroll, every decision is magnified...not an optimal situation...(money) commitement fail...

That being said, I'll abstain from playing Rush in the near future...
